Welcome

Welcome aboard!  This blog will serve a space where we can expand on topics that we discuss in class with some "low stakes" writing.   For this week, please write a bit about why you are taking this course and what you would like to gain in our time together.  Try to be as specific as you can.  I am going to do my best to be sure that this course is useful for ALL of you.  This response will help me do that.

  3. I am taking this course for a few reasons. Being an older adult going back to college can be a bit scary at first. In this class, I hope to find the guidance and resources I need to be successful in this new journey. Some of the things I look forward to learning here are organizational skills, study skills, and critical thinking skills. I know this blog will be very helpful for the critical thinking skills I need, so I look forward to this part of the class the most. Also, I think this class will be a big help for my First Year Writing Plus class I am currently taking. I can apply some of the things I learn here to that class. I am very excited to be here and cannot wait to see what this class has to offer.

  4. I am taking this course to help me correct any bad habits I may have previously developed as a student. This time back in school, I really want to do this right. I am absolutely motivated to do something more with my life and I understand that is a great foundation. I am hoping this course will give me some tools and strategies to further my success as a student. Some things I would like to work on include time management - it is going to be difficult transitioning into a full time student along with working a full time job. I need to learn to effectively manage my time. I would also like to work on my organizational skills, because I know my lack of organization has caused me to fall behind in the past. I look forward to refining these skills and learning more to help me on my journey.

  5. I am taking this class so I can learn how to manage my time better and how to better organize myself with the work I have due.I hope to work in my writing skills and this part of the class will help but my main focus is to stop procrastinating and better organization overall just because last semester I could've done much better if I had not procrastinated and I hope this class will help me with that. This past semester is struggled with managing my time and how to prepare for exams and homework that was due hopefully I learn the skills I need to improve in those areas. So I can have a much more successful 2nd semester here at rhode island college.-Isaac Guerra

  6. I am taking this class in hopes of being a better student. I would like to improve my studying, organization, test taking, and time management skills. I really want to improve all my skills to become a better student, but I feel like the skills I mentioned are the ones I need to work on the most. I really need to find better studying strategies and to study more in advance. I find myself studying too late and not having enough time to retain the information needed for the exam. My organization skills are very bad, I need to write down important dates more like my quiz and exam dates. I also hope to fix any other bad habits that I may have so I may become a better student.
